How to Complete Your WellCheck

When a WellCheck is requested for your organization, you'll be invited to complete a structured assessment. This guide walks you through the process from start to finish.

The assessment is designed to be straightforward. There are 17 questions, and most organizations complete it in 15–20 minutes.

Step 1: Open Your WellCheck

You'll receive an email notification when a WellCheck is requested. Follow the link to your WellCheck page on WellFunded, or navigate to WellCheck from your dashboard.

Click Get Started to begin.

Step 2: Upload Your Documents

Before answering questions, you'll be prompted to upload source documents. These are what power the deeper analysis in your WellCheck — the analysis engine reads and reasons through them directly.

From the Document Upload Centre (Charity Portrait → Uploaded Documents), you can upload:

  • Theory of Change — how your activities lead to intended impact

  • Strategic Plan — your goals, priorities, and direction

  • Annual Reports — your most recent annual or impact report

  • Project Reports — any additional project-level documentation

All of these are uploaded from one place — just drag and drop or browse.

Audited financial statements are uploaded separately from the Financials tab on your Charity Portrait. Navigate to Charity Portrait → Financials and click New Financial Period to upload.

Don't have all of these documents? That's completely fine. Upload what you have. More documents means a richer assessment, but WellCheck generates a thorough report regardless.

Step 3: Answer the Questions

The assessment includes 17 questions organized across five areas:

  • Programs and services

  • Leadership and governance

  • Planning and operations

  • Financial context

  • Approach to impact

Answer in your own words. You don't need to worry about formatting, grammar, or structure — clear, direct responses are what matter.

Step 4: Submit

Once you've uploaded your documents and answered all questions, click Submit. Your responses will be analyzed alongside CRA filings, your uploaded documents, and peer benchmarks to generate your WellCheck report.

After submission:

  • Your WellCheck summary is generated by the analysis engine

  • Both you and the requesting donor receive the completed report

Updating Your Information After Submission
